Everything You Need for 48 Hours in Big Sur + Camping
My packing list, Everything You Need for 48 Hours in Big Sur + Camping will help assure you are ready your adventure to this beautiful coastline!
Big Sur…Oh how I love you, how remote you are and all your beauty.
A area of California that feels like you are visiting another planet because of how secluded it is. You’ll drive for miles down Highway 1 without seeing really anything but nature, there’s very little cellphone service and not built up at all…absolutely perfect.
My boyfriend and I spent 48 hours out in Big Sur mid June on Vacation and had so much fun! You can see my entire blog post on Big Sur here!
We spent the night before the drive in a hotel in Monterrey then camped while in Big Sur. This list includes all clothing, shoes, toiletries you will need as well as camping gear.

When packing for Big Sur you don’t need to go crazy on all kinds of different outfits just be mindful of packing enough different layers for fast changing weather. Weather can go from hot, sunny and blue skies to overcast, cloud and windy pretty fast so just be prepared for that.
If you also decide to camp, you only need to bring a minimal amount of gear. Really only a tent and everything that you use to sleep on/with to be comfortable. There are places to get food so you don’t need to cook down at your site unless you want to.
You want to be comfortable while getting in and out of the car all day going on little hikes, exploring the coast. You will most likely take lots of pictures so pick out clothes you like to see yourself in so you are happy with the pictures but also comfortable in.
Lastly, have you spent 48 hours in Big Sur? Do you think I should add anything else to this list?
