Know before you go
With most airlines, if you check a long ski bag to actually carry your skis in you are allowed to also bring a ski backpack for you boots and gear for no extra charge (like the kind you would take to the mountain for the day). You do have to keep everything under a certain weight though, so just double check all of this with you airline before you go.
What I like to do if I need a little more room is: bring your ski bag (the big one) and pack you skis, boots and as much ski gear into as you can. Then for everything else, bring a carry-on and pack that full. This way you don’t have to worry about the weight limit of your carry-on and it’s most likely larger. If you pack this way you are still also allowed to bring a personal item, like a small backpack or little bag which is nice. This sounds like a lot, but it’s totally doable to carry all of this into the airport!
When you get to the airport to check-in and drop off your ski bag. Be sure to ask which line you should be in, often it’s a different line than the regular checked bag line.
I hope you are feeling prepared and excited after reading this list, Everything You Need for a 5 Day Ski Trip (Colorado). A lot of thought goes into packing for a trip ski trip, it’s important to have everything you need out there. Planning out everything you need ahead of time helps a lot!
