Full Packing List for Vermont in the Fall + Camping
This is my Full Packing List for Vermont in the Fall + Camping! Vermont is the ideal place to visit in the Fall.
Tones of oranges, yellows and reds everywhere you look! 10/10 foliage destination! The old churches, small towns, green mountains, breweries, hiking trails and so much more. VT is a really cool place but especially in the Autumn months!
A long weekend is the perfect amount of time to get a lot of exploring in.
Last October, my boyfriend Alby and I spent a long weekend checking out everything Stowe and Burlington has to offer! Both of us loved it!!
We adventured, camped, biked, ate, drank, hiked, and shopped our way around Vermont during our time there. We wanted to see and do as much as possible! – You can check out my Guide to Stowe + Burlington VT in the Fall here!
Spending most of our time outdoors (even at night since we camped) we came up with the ultimate list of everything you need to pack for a trip to Vermont in the Fall!
Letโs get into it! –
Full Packing List for Vermont in the Fall + Camping:
Clothes:
Fall in VT can mean warm sunny days that still feel a little like summer.
Fall in VT can also mean chilly mornings, afternoons and nights where you want to bundle up in all your cozy clothes.
Sometimes…Fall in VT can mean rainy days. Just be prepared for everything!
We were always out and about during the day hiking, biking and exploring. Oftentimes no longer needing our sweaters once the sun was fully shining.
At night, when walking around town is when that fleece coat comes in handy!

- Sweatshirt
- Fleece coat
- T-Shirts
- Long sleeve shirts
- Cozy PJs
- Hiking socks

Shoes:
Alby and I found ourselves in our hiking boots most days. The hiking boots got a ton of use on this trip. For all different level hikes as well as for horseback riding, the boots are what you want to wear.
By the time we were ready to take those boots off, Birkenstocks were the shoes we wanted.
Sneakers are nice to have for activities like biking and walking around.
Shoes to pack:
- Hiking boots
- Sneakers
- Shower shoes
- Birkenstocks
Gear:
The gear is important!
Pack carefully for a camping trip to VT in the fallโฆyou might end up in some rain.
We felt well-prepared for this camping trip. Always cozy and comfy in our tent at night.
The only thing we were not ready for was all of the rain. It rained pretty heavily one day/night on us. Our poor tent was soaked from being torrentially down-poured for hours.
Be sure your tent can withstand the rain but also bring things like extra tarps, bungeecord and rope- you will be happy you did!

You don’t need many electronics for a camping trip to VT in the Fall, just some to help capture your memories!
We brought along a few different cameras with us and had so much fun playing around with them all.
A portable power station and chargers are also helpful when camping but other than that you can pack light on electronics for this trip!
Electronics to pack:
- Cameras! : DSLR, 35mm, GoPro, Instax mini + extra film/SD cards
- Bluetooth speaker

Food + Drink:
We found ourselves going out to eat and drink for almost every meal since we were out exploring most days.
It’s nice to have snacks and a few easy meals on hand just incase.
I recommend bringing along some of your favorite snacks, easy quick camping meals, and a bottle of wine for late night hanging in the tent!
