The 3 Best Ski Resorts in New Hampshire + Maine

New Hampshire and Maine offer some amazing skiing! You can find mountains for all level skiers up in the Northeast. There are 28 resorts in NH and 19 in ME.

Over the years, I’ve explored quite a few of New Hampshire and Maine’s ski mountains. After spending many days on the slopes at various mountains, I have come up with the three best ski resorts in NH and ME. These top three are based off of terrain, overall mountain vibe, and snow conditions.

In this post I share with you the three best ski resorts in NH and ME, my full guides to each mountain, insight you want to know before you go and so much more!

Let’s dive right in-

The 3 Best Ski Resorts in New Hampshire + Maine

Skiing glades at Sunday River Mountain

#1 Sunday River

Maine’s second largest ski resort offering eight peaks, amazing terrain and trails for all levels.

I love Sunday River, it’s my favorite mountain. What I like about it is you never have to ski the same run twice and they have terrain for all level skiers.

Start off on either the far left or right peak and just work your way across the entire mountain!

The snow up at Sunday River is usually great! I have had countless fun days here, even some awesome pow days spent in the glades!

#2 Sugarloaf

Ahh Sugarloaf Mountain! Up in Carrabassett Valley, you can find Maine’s largest ski resort with 162 glades and trails. Another beautiful mountain that offers so much to explore.

Head up to Sugarloaf after they get some fresh snow. Be sure to check out their Cat Skiing and snowfields, you will have a blast!

The mountain vibe up at Sugarloaf is a lot of fun as well as the nightlife! My boyfriend and I always have the best time partying with the locals up at The Widowmaker and The Rack.

#3 Loon

New Englands most easily accessible big mountain located in Lincoln, NH. A day at Loon is always a fun one!

Loon is just a quick and easy car ride right off the highway from many places in New Hampshire, the Boston area, and more.

Not as big as Sugarloaf and Sunday River but still a good size! There is something for everyone on this mountain. If we are looking for a quick day trip, Loon is always our go to.

Be sure to check out the Paul Bunyan Room for some après ski, it’s a really fun place! While at the mountain, also make sure you take the chairlift across and get a few runs in over on South Peak.

Ski Pass

Are you interested in skiing all three of these mountains? Consider getting the New England, Nitro or Ikon Pass next winter!

The New England (silver or gold) gets you access to all three mountains.

The Nitro Pass is for skiers and riders under 30 years old and includes all three mountains on it at a much cheaper rate.

The Ikon Pass is for anyone, any age and also includes all three mountains as well as many more all over the world.

Aprés ski at Loon Mountain

Whether you are looking for a day trip, weekend getaway or week long ski vacay any of these three mountains will work great! I recommend going in February or March, that’s usually when they have the best conditions.

Have you skied Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Loon or all three? What was your experience(s) like? Tell me about it in the comments below!

I spend a lot of time at these mountains in the winter time. Follow along with me on Instagram and watch my stories for my most frequent photos!
