The Ultimate Guide to Seattle, WA in November
This is The Ultimate Guide to Seattle, WA in November. The foodie, coffee lover, granola, artsy, ocean-side, rainy city. A city like no other in the world. A great place for a weekend getaway!
There is so much to explore in this unique city. With the ocean and mountains close by, the adventures are endless.
In November, I spent an extra long weekend visiting a very good friend of mine. She was the perfect tour guide, I got to see a lot!
Here, I share my experience with you incase you are thinking about also visiting in November! This guide will be so helpful for a long weekend getaway!
Ok, let’s dive right in!
The Ultimate Guide to Seattle, WA in November:
Getting there:
Fly into Seatac Airport, this airport is in a great location very close to the city. Keep an eye out for the mountains before landing, an amazing sight to see!
Should you rent a car? Uber is very popular in Seattle so you can use that as your way of transportation and you will be fine. When in the city you can walk most places but having a car is nice to see more of the city and outside of it. I do recommend renting one if you can!
Where to stay:
There are some pretty cool Airbnbs in Seattle and in towns right outside of it.
I stayed right outside the city in Burien on Puget Sound by the East Passage and loved it. On a clear day you could see Mt. Rainer off in the distance.
If you rent a car stay a little outside the city. It’s nice being right on the water, parking is easy and it’s so relaxing. If you don’t end up renting a car I would reccomened to stay right in the city, it will be easier to access everything on foot that way.
Things to do:
Pike Place Market:
A Seattle staple! A “must see” while in the city.
Pike Place Market feels like a giant farmers market. They have beautiful fresh fruit and veggies, the largest variety of seafood, fresh flowers, restaurants, stores, and the coolest part- flying fish.
You have to experience seeing the flying fish while you’re there. The energy of the staff with fish (literally) being thrown around in front of you is so fun to watch.
Take a few hours to walk through the entire market, there is so much to see! While visiting down here keep an eye out for the world’s first ever Starbucks! Located right across from one of the Markets entryways.
Space Needle:
Another Seattle “must see”!
You can see this Space Needle from afar in most places in Seattle but seeing it up close is pretty cool. The Needle is something that is just known in the city. A very unique structure with awesome views.
Know before you go: if you get motion sickness going to the top will most likely make you nauseous.
Chihuly Garden & Glass:
Located right next to the Space Needle is the beautiful Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit.
The perfect thing to do on a rainy November day. Walk through and see the bright colored, one of a kind amazing glass art.
Shop:
There are dozens of unique small shops in the city as well as some larger big name stores, something for everyone.
Some stores you should definitely check out while in Seattle are: Evo and REI. Both of these stores are so much fun to walk through. Full of cool clothes, skis, snowboards and awesome outdoor gear.
The Fremont Troll:
You can find the Troll located at N 36th St, Seattle, WA 98103 under the George Washington Memorial Bridge. There is limited street parking only so keep an eye out for an open spot.
Read up on the story of the Troll here. Something so fun and unique to see. In person it’s huge. You will most likely see others here taking pictures, it’s a pretty popular tourist stop.
The Gum Wall:
One of the weirdest things I’ve seen while being a tourist in a new city but it’s one of the Seattle staples, a “must see”!
I’m still glad I got to see it I just couldn’t believe how much gum was actually on that wall…The Gum Wall is located at Pike Place Market.
Longboard:
A great place to bring your longboard and ride around when it stops raining, I was so glad I did!
If you stay by the coast in Burien you’ll find there are lots of quiet beach side, long roads perfect for longboarding! The people who live here are all so nice, they smile and wave as they go by.
If you have a board, bring it!
Jump into the sound!:
Get into that cold water!! Even in November!
Find an access point, bring some towels and jump in! Believe me, it’s cold…but afterwards is such a rush. The water will take your breath away at the initial jump but then once you are out it’s awesome!
Volunteer Park Conservatory:
Check out the Conservatory at Volunteer Park. Located at 1400 E Galer St, Seattle, WA 98112.
A great activity on a rainy November Seattle day. So many cool, unique plants to look at.
We spent about an hour here walking around checking out all the different plants, there are a few different rooms to look through.
Restaurants & bars:
While in Seattle, I immediately got the vibe that its a big foodie town. There are so many options for places to eat.
You can walk through Pike Place Market and stop at one of the stands and grab something to eat there or stop at one of the restaurants by the market. You could pick up fresh fish and produce at the market and cook at your Airbnb.
A great place I recommend checking out is Wild Ginger in downtown Seattle. A delicious Thai restaurant that is beautiful inside.
Also checkout the waterfront by Pier 54 down my the aquarium and get some chowder…it’s so good and perfect for a November rainy day.
Nightlife is fun in Seattle, after dinner check out a few places in the city; there’s something for everyone. Breweries, pool halls, laid back bars, fancy clubs, places to dance and quiet places to just grab a drink at.
Seattle tips:
- Always carry a raincoat
- Wear waterproof shoes while walking around
- Not very cold in November just wet most of the time
- Be aware of the homeless people especially at night they can be aggressive
- Don’t go out alone at night as a woman
- The homeless situation is different than anywhere else I’ve been I was surprised what I saw so just be cautious
Visit Seattle in November, make it a weekend getaway or take a long weekend for a little more time to explore.
I think November is a great time to fly into the city, spend a few days and really get a feel of what Seattle is like.
It will most likely be rainy and overcast most of your visit but that’s all apart of Seattle’s vibe! The people are nice, the food is great and there’s lots to see.
